Our Issues and Concerns
AHIC supports proposals that seek to sustain and strengthen the housing credit as an efficient and effective tool for the development of affordable housing. We also engage in the public dialogue about the benefits of the credit and its unique public/private partnership.
Although the housing credit finances nearly 100,000 affordable homes for low income households each year, the unmet needs far outstrip available resources.
AHIC participates as the voice of the investor in the Affordable Rental Housing Action Coalition and supports their efforts to educate the general public and policy-makers about extent of the housing crisis and the power of the housing credit to address it.
We also share insights into the impact of proposed policy changes on the housing credit. To see our comments on issues relating to the Volcker Rule, the Community Reinvestment Act, HUD appropriations, accounting rule revisions, and other topics, visit our News page.
