Our Issues and Concerns

AHIC supports proposals that seek to sustain and strengthen the housing credit as an efficient and effective tool for the development of affordable housing. We also engage in the public dialogue about the benefits of the credit and its unique public/private partnership.

  • AHIC has signed on to the Affordable Rental Housing A.C.T.I.O.N. Campaign’s legislative proposals (Download PDF document) to make permanent the new construction and substantial rehabilitation housing credit fixed floor rate at no less than 9 percent and set the acquisition housing credit fixed floor rate at no less than 4 percent.
  • In response to a proposal calling for the termination of the housing credit, AHIC joined the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition and others in refuting (Download PDF document) the characterization of the program in Senator Tom Coburn’s Back in Black proposal.
